These suggestions  are gleaned from over 35 years experience in working with children in both large and small churches.

CRUSADE STAFF

Before the start of the crusade, I have found it helpful to meet with all those involved.  This will enable us to discuss any questions concerning our program and will also involve as many church workers as possible.  Out of those involved you will need the following leaders:

EVENT COORDINATOR

He/she coordinates and oversees all other leaders.  Also keeps other leaders on the planning schedule according to the master calendar.  Must have the ability to recruit and work with people.

TRANSPORTATION LEADER

He/she will coordinate all transportation for all children who need rides to the crusade.  This person will also develop the Car-Go ministry (sending cars to pick up children)  He/she must also be able to recruit and lead others.

PROMOTION LEADER

Plans how best to advertise the crusade and makes sure all venues are utilized.  Some of the methods to advertise are:

               Posters in windows of businesses.

Hand-outs to be given to friends & neighbors

Door-hangers to be distributed in your neighborhood

Free tickets that the children can give to their friends

Community bulletin board and radio announcements

News Release to the local Religion editor get results.

Promote it as a family event, not just for kids

REGISTRATION LEADER

Our Trading Post promotion will bring many visitors to the crusade.  This registration of visitors is of utmost importance if follow-up is to have maximum results.  Our registration forms may be duplicated for your use.  All involved in registration need to be at their post at least 30 minute prior to the start of the program.

CHEERLEADING COACH

(ROW MONITORS)

Recruits workers at a ratio of 1 worker per 15 children and have them sit strategically around the auditorium.  Ranger John & Calico Carol are involved in the presentation of the program and can’t be involved also in discipline challenges.

These workers will also lead the children in actions, cheers, etc.

ALTAR WORKERS

He/she plans on how you would like us to handle the invitations and ministry time with the children.  We usually invite the children to the altar and have a mass prayer with them and then allow them a short testimony “I have decided to follow Jesus.”  We then dismiss them to workers to confirm their decision and to get more information for follow-up.  He/she should have information cards and trained workers available.

All of these workers should be personally selected by the pastor and need to be of high quality and dedication.  A staff meeting should take place at least six weeks prior to the crusade to discuss and plan the master calendar.
